Ultimate Video - PHP Script for Trending and Viral Videos

Ultimate Video is a ready-made website script for running a video content site — for example a movie trailers and reviews site. You do not need to know how to code. Everything is controlled from a simple Admin Panel: adding videos, organizing categories, writing pages, changing the site's look, and setting up ads.

The script is self-hosted, which means it runs on your own hosting account (like Hostinger, any cPanel host, free hosting, or a VPS) instead of depending on a third-party platform. You own the code, the database, and all the content.

The video player is built on Plyr, a widely used open-source player, so playback, fullscreen, keyboard shortcuts, and quality-switching all work the same reliable way real streaming sites use.

Video Player

• Built on Plyr, a mature open-source video player — reliable fullscreen, keyboard shortcuts (spacebar to play/pause), and a proper Settings menu, all self-hosted (no external service)
• Direct-upload videos can offer multiple resolutions — 1080p / 720p / 480p / 360p / Auto — switchable any time from the player's Settings menu
• Playback automatically starts at a quality that matches the visitor's connection speed (fast connection → higher quality, slow connection → lower quality) — the visitor can still change it manually at any time
• Right-click on the video is disabled (toggles play/pause instead) and there is no "Download" option in the player, as a deterrent against casual saving/copying
• YouTube and Vimeo links are played through Plyr's own integration, which (unlike a plain embedded iframe) allows the skippable-ad timer and the pause-overlay features below to work on those videos too, not just on directly uploaded ones
• Both the skippable ad and the pause-related-videos overlay reliably appear in every viewing mode — normal and fullscreen, on both mobile and desktop

Skippable Player Ads & Smartlinks

• An optional skippable 300×250 banner ad that appears over the player at a timer you control (e.g. every 30 seconds), with a small "✕" button to skip it
• An optional "Smartlink" (companion link) system: the first two clicks on the player open a rotating ad link in a new tab, and the third click plays the video — with 5 link slots that rotate evenly across visitors

Admin Panel

How to Use It

Log in at yoursite.com/admin/ with the email and password you set during installation.

1- Categories (Multiple per Video)

Go to Categories to add a category (name, optional description and SEO fields). When adding or editing a video, all your categories appear as a row of checkboxes — tick as many as apply. The video will then appear on every one of those category pages, and all of them show as clickable tags on the video's own page.

2- Adding Videos

1. Click Add New Video in the sidebar.
2. Enter the title — the clean web address is generated automatically underneath the title box.
3. Write the description using the Visual/Text editor (see 4.3).
4. Tick one or more categories, and set the status to Published or Draft.
5. Under Video Source, choose either: Embed — paste a YouTube/Vimeo link or embed code, or Direct Upload — upload a video file directly, then optionally click Upload next to it to send it to the server right away
6. Upload a thumbnail image (optional but recommended), or click Select Existing to reuse one already on the server (see 4.7).
7. If you uploaded a Direct Upload video, you can optionally add 1080p/720p/480p/360p versions — see 4.6 for the easy way to do this automatically.
8. Fill in the SEO fields if you want a custom meta title/description for this video.
9. Click Save Video.

3- The Editor

Both "Add New Video" and "Add Custom Page" use a WordPress-style editor with two tabs:

• Visual — a normal formatting toolbar (bold, italic, lists, links, images, alignment) — you type and format like in a word processor, no HTML knowledge required.
• Text — shows the raw HTML source, for advanced users who want full control over the markup.

Switching between the two tabs keeps your content in sync both ways.

4- The Video Player

• Quality menu — appears in the player's Settings (⚙) menu whenever a video has more than one quality file uploaded (see 4.6). The visitor can switch any time; the video resumes from the same point.
• Starting quality — chosen automatically from the visitor's connection speed the first time the video loads; the visitor's manual choice always takes priority afterward.
• Fullscreen — the ad and related-videos overlays keep working correctly in fullscreen too, on both mobile and desktop.
• Keyboard shortcuts — spacebar toggles play/pause anywhere on the page (as long as you're not typing in a text field).

5- Player Ads & Smartlinks

Go to Player Ads in the admin sidebar:

• Skippable banner ad — turn it on, set how many seconds between ad breaks, and paste your 300×250 ad code. Works fully (pausing and resuming) for direct uploads and YouTube/Vimeo links; other embed types still show the ad on a timer without pausing.
• Smartlink (Companion Link) — turn it on and fill in up to 5 link URLs. The first two clicks on the player open one of these in a new tab (rotating fairly); the third click plays the video normally.

Neither of these is required — leave them switched off if you don't want to show any player ads.

6- Multi-Quality Videos & Auto-Generate

On the Add/Edit Video screen, below the main video upload, there's an optional "Additional Quality Files" panel with four fields: 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p. Fill these manually, or click 🪄 Auto-Generate Lower Qualities to have your browser convert the video automatically (no special server software needed, so it works on any shared hosting):

• HD/4K source → generates 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p
• 1080p source → generates 720p, 480p, 360p
• 720p source → generates 480p, 360p
• 480p source → generates 360p

Good to know: Auto-Generate uses your own computer's processing power (not the server's), so it takes a few minutes depending on the video's length and your device, and the first use downloads a one-time ~30MB converter (cached afterward). Very large files (400MB+) may be slow or fail on older/weaker devices — if that happens, the manual Upload fields below always work as a fallback.

7- Media Library (Select Existing / Remove)

• Select Existing — next to every video/thumbnail/quality upload field, this opens a small browser of everything already uploaded to your site, so you can reuse a file instead of uploading it again.
• Remove — a checkbox appears next to any file that's currently attached; tick it and click Save to delete that file from the server.

8- Social Sharing

Every video page has a Share button under the title. Clicking it opens a panel with a copyable link and one-click buttons for WhatsApp, Telegram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit, and VK — no setup required.

9- SEO Tools

Fill in the meta title/description/keywords fields wherever you see them. Your sitemaps update automatically — just submit yoursite.com/sitemap.xml once in Google Search Console.

10- Search & Replace

Go to Search & Replace in the admin sidebar to find and fix a word, link, or piece of code across your whole site at once — video titles, descriptions, embed codes, meta fields, category text, page content, and site settings (like header/footer code). Search first to preview every match with a snippet and a count, choose exactly which ones to change (or leave all ticked), then click Replace Selected. A regular-expression mode is available for advanced patterns.

Back up your database first (phpMyAdmin → Export) before using Replace — it edits the database directly and can't be undone.

Security & Anti-Copy

Domain License Lock

During installation, your domain is automatically saved as the "licensed domain" (visible/editable any time in Site Settings). If the site's files are copied to a different domain, visitors there see a "not licensed for this domain" notice instead of your content — the admin panel itself always stays reachable so you can update the licensed domain yourself if you legitimately move to a new domain.

Video Save/Copy Deterrents

• Right-click on the video is disabled and toggles play/pause instead of showing a save menu
• No "Download" option in the player's controls
• Picture-in-Picture shortcut and drag-out-of-page are both disabled on the video element

Please read — set realistic expectations: both of the above are reasonable deterrents used by many commercial sites, not unbreakable protection. Since this is a self-hosted script, whoever legitimately owns a copy has full access to the code and could remove these checks from files they own; and any video played in a browser can, in principle, be captured through other technical means. Treat this as raising the bar for casual copying, not as guaranteed DRM.
